I am passionate about creating calm in the midst of every day chaos.

From my time as a classroom teacher, I’ve learned to cultivate skills that support my work as a professional organizer, including being an empathetic listener; creating effective tidying methods, decluttering techniques, and organizational systems; creative project management; as well as making mundane tasks feel joyful and achievable! 

Creating functional organizing systems provides an ongoing sense of calmness and routine in our daily lives that we crave and deserve.

I went to college to become a writer. I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing. The desire to write has never left me so I’m excited to channel one of my passions into my new Tidy Talk Blog!

After college, I worked as a nanny, child care assistant, kids’ yoga and gymnastics instructor, and personal assistant. Managing those different jobs kept me busy and helped guide me towards becoming a classroom teacher. I’ve always had the desire to teach people, to help people achieve their goals, and to see positive growth and development occur in those around me.

When I was accepted into the Teaching Credential Program at Cal Poly Humboldt in 2017, we moved from Southern California to the heart of Humboldt County. I proceeded to work as a teacher in many different settings, teaching grades TK through 12th grade. I taught all elementary subjects and high school English. I learned to understand nuanced behaviors. I learned to listen to words spoken and feelings unspoken. I learned profound patience and developed a deepened expression of compassion.

When I began planning my wedding, I realized I needed a career change. Sometimes you give so much to something you care about (your job, your family, your passion) that you have nothing left to give to yourself.

I needed a reset and a fresh start.

I spent a couple months soul-searching, applying to every job opportunity that was available. Nothing felt right. So I began to take a look at what truly brought me joy in my life already, to see if I could carve out a path from something I already knew.

One day it dawned on me - Organization, of course!

It’s what I do when I’m stressed to find calm. It’s what I do when I’m feeling creative. It’s what I do because it makes me feel good to exist in a space that works for me, instead of me working tirelessly in my home without reprieve.

I set out immediately to make this dream of helping others organize their spaces a reality.

I created a website and Declutter Organize Breathe was born!

I’ve put tremendous effort into this business and continue to work hard every day to create a well-rounded space that is accessible and helpful to anyone who is interested in my organizing services and resources. I’m so happy you’re here and I look forward to supporting your journey to a more peaceful organized life!
